The Benefits of a Twitter Custom Background

Monday, June 28th, 2010

The most important part of branding a Twitter profile is the use of a custom background. A customized Twitter background has become a must whether you are an individual or a business. One of the benefits of a Twitter custom background is that they reflect your image. Along with reflecting your image, they also help you to shine in the crowd.

If Twitter is being used to promote something, having a custom background will provide an exceptional marketing opportunity.
A perfect tailor made Twitter background can give any average company a great corporate image. There are far more benefits of a Twitter custom background than you probably have ever thought of.

Here are some of the benefits of a Twitter custom background.

1. A Twitter custom background legitimizes your profile:
A well designed Twitter background is the best way to legitimize your profile or a business Twitter page. Leaving the right impression in the minds of visitors is one of the benefits of a Twitter custom background designed exclusively for your company.

2. It provides you and your company free advertising space:
The pre-made Twitter backgrounds are used by almost everyone using Twitter and it becomes very monotonous for visitors to view the same backgrounds repeatedly. Having a beautifully designed custom made background for you and your company makes visitors stop at your profile page. This pause time acts as free advertising space.

3. Increases the number of your followers:
One of the benefits of a Twitter custom background is that an appealing and informational profile background allows you to attract more visitors, increase your network and add more followers to your twitter profile.

4. Adds weight to your tweets:
Tweets are useful for developing new relationships, announcing offers and promotions etc. Your business is bound to miss out on more than half of the benefits of advertising on Twitter, if your profile does not have an attractive background along with valuable messages. With a personalized, custom background that is appropriate for your company, you can gain instant value and create an impact on the users.

5. It allows you to add more information and photos:
You can store limited information on the basic, pre-made Twitter profile backgrounds. Having a custom background will allow you to add photos, contact information, information about your company etc.

6. Allows you to send direct marketing messages:
Sending direct marketing messages in your tweets is a very risky task as there is always a risk of losing your following. Having a customized background image allows you to send direct marketing messages freely. Choose the most important messages that you want your visitors to know and communicate them through your profile.

A custom twitter background allows you to present anything you like to your visitors. It not only helps you to establish your company’s brand or your brand, make your profile legitimate and publish contact as well as other important information but also helps you to differentiate you Twitter account from the remaining accounts.

Dress your business brand for success

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Recently i had a potential client contact me regarding the opportunity to create a new logo and brand identity for her business.

When I discussed the price she gasped and commented ‘I didn’t want to spend more than $400! I can’t justify that”

Now, compared to many other design agencies, our design rates are quite reasonable, and we charge very fairly, so calmly I decided to asked her:
‘Madam, can you please tell me if you have ever purchased a fashionable outfit for an event for more than $400?’ She replied she had, though was a little puzzled with my question.. I then asked, ‘And have you ever spent more than $1000 in total on beauty products?”. Again she replied; “easily..I spend around $180 a month alone on creams, hair products and makeup. ” But she still didn’t understand what I was getting at.

I them asked, why she would spend more than $400 on a dress (which probably costs $20 to make in China, and is not a one of a kind!) just to most likely be worn once. She replied “to attract potential partners and to flaunt herself to the competition”.

I quickly added..’Just like a nice looking logo and brand identity does for your potential clients and your business competition.’

Suddenly the lightbulb went on and she understood what I was trying to point out… the importance of a good looking logo.

That dress will never turn her into a success, give her credibility in the marketplace or make her wealthy (unless she is a fashion designer), but yet she would still spend a crazy amount of money on a piece of cheap China designer fabric, rather than spend similar, or less in the long term, on something that can…her Brand Identity.

The point is, the essence of a great brand is the core to a successful business. It is what symbolises the different between your product to your competitors. What your brand stands for is the credibility of your business and it’s products.

The Colonel is dead, yet KFC still have him featured on their logo..why?..the man did great chicken and that brand now symbolises him, and his secret herbs and spices. That brand is worth multi-millions to that company, every single year.

Apple and Nike’s brand are so strong they don’t even need words…a symbol is all they need to reflect what they do. If they were to give those world-renowned icons away it could quite possibly cost them their business, because those icons stand for what they are and what they do.

The bottom line is, before you question the price of how much you custom brand identity might cost, think of the rewards, the credibility it will bring, and the clients it will attract.

Your Brand Identity is not a purchase..it is an investment into possibly your entire business future, and possibly even fund your retirement.

You might suddenly start thinking that $400 dress is a useless rip off (and still really worth $20, from China)

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Pen and Picture, makers of music videos, movies and books (based in USA, UK & Aust)

recently commissioned Devision to create a promotional website for their latest release, the new novel

All The Talk Is Dead by Michael Ebner. Incorporating a pre-designed ‘type title treatment’ by popular artist Dean Reilly, Devision’s initial response to brief was well received by the client. So much that they asked Devision to design a new cover for the novel which became the official cover for the book’s release. This final cover, designed by Chris Bourke, then became the basis for the website and the novel’s entire campaign, including an e-chapter and movie style trailer which features narration by Hollywood voiceover artist Hal Douglas (Seinfeld Comedian Trailer) and music by Golden Globe Nominee Kaki King (Into The Wild).

Further marketing collateral by Devision for the novel included ‘book branding’ for Pen and Picture’s Twitter page, bookmark postcards, MySpace banners, and an up & coming e-store for Pen and Picture products.

All The Talk Is Dead is currently available in Paperback at Amazon and participating stores. An E-book will be released on Kindle in early 2010. An audio book will be released on iTunes in mid 2010. The importance of a Great Business Card Design

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

You may not realise it, but your business card is one of the most important business tools you can possibly have.

In many instances it is the ‘first impression’ of your business, and it is usually the tool that people reach for to contact you when they require professional services.

A great looking business card is made up of a couple of elements – the overall design, and the quality and finish of the business card itself.
So firstly, lets look at the design….

Your business card design should reflect your existing branding so people easily identify your business card with your business and other marketing you may already have, such as press ads, etc

Your business card design should be easy to read, uncluttered, but yet complete with all the necessary information such as contact details, website address and bullet points outlining your services

Your business card could also have additional information for your customer, such as some lines on the back of the card to write quotes, a location map of your office, or it can be a promotional tool with a discount rate when the person presents your card at the counter.

The design/artwork of your business card must stand out from the crowd so your customers remember you before anyone else!

Business Card printing….

There are many different types of finishes when it comes to business card printing, so how do you choose the one right for you?

1. For affordability, start at the single-sided business card, but make sure you have it printed on a decent stock weight, of at least 300gsm. We recommend around the 400gsm weight so it is less likely to feel flimsy and also doesn’t bend as easily.

2. For something with a little more impact, go for a double sided card with a nice finish – either gloss celloglaze or matt celloglaze. The gloss celloglaze finish offers a nice glossy finish to the cards making them very durable, however if you are looking for class, then the matt celloglaze finish is the way to go! Not only does the smooth flat finish look great, it feels amazing too. You will see people start rubbing it as you hand it to them, which lets you know they will most likely be hanging onto that card for a while!

The celloglaze finishes also add additional weight and body to the business cards, making them appear much stronger than the 400gsm weight they really are, which appears much more professional.

All these business cards are much more affordable these days than you might think, with the printing of 1000 business cards usually leaving decent change out of $100, making your business cards not only a very affordable marketing tool, but a great investment in your business!

If you’re paying more than that, then visit www.Devision.com.au and see what you should be paying!

There are also a few nice touches to finish off your cards, such as rounded corners, embellishments such as raised embosses or UV varnishes which really leave an impression, but can also leave an impression in your wallet to match!

Whatever your business type, you need a business card that works it’s magic for you.

Professional Business Marketing on a Small Budget

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Starting up any new business can be tough at the best of times, and the current economic climate doesn’t make it any easier!

But don’t let all the doom and gloom you hear everyday stop you.

I would like to share some simple cost saving business marketing tips and services that our business, Devision, can provide that can have you looking as professional as the big guys, all for under $1000, including professional logo, business cards, letterheads and well ranking website!

Read on and I’ll tell you how!……

Branding & Logo Design – A few hundred dollars

We all know that one of the most important assets of any business is their brand and corporate identity. A professional eye catching and clever logo and brand is one of the key ingredients to any successful business, however a custom designed logo and corporate branding can usually cost big dollars.
But if you want a professional logo at a budget rate, many agencies such as Devision have a bank full of hundreds of unused logos created in the design process for other clients, which we offer at a discounted rate. Obviously it will not be a totally custom logo for your business, however many of the logos are generic enough that they can suit almost any type of business by simply changing a few colours, and you will save hundreds on the cost of your branding.

Business Card Printing – 1000 full colour for $50

Professional Business Cards are one of the next things on any new business list. They are the ‘first impression tool. for most businesses, so you don’t want some cheap laser-printed homemade business cards!
And with any new business you will want to hand out as many cards as possible to get your business name out there.
Devision offer 1000 full colour business cards for just $50!These are double sided (full colour front, greyscale/black reverse side) on a nice 300gsm artboard stock. There is a small charge if artwork or delivery is required, but you’ll agree it’s still very affordable!

Letterhead Printing – 500 full colour $170

Letterheads are the next thing you’ll be needing for your invoicing, promotional letters, etc. You can get started with 500 full colour professionally printed letterheads for as little as $170! And like most printing, the price per copy gets cheaper the more you have printed, saving you a packet!

Website – as little as a couple of hundred dollars

As I have mentioned in previous ramblings, your website is probably the single most important and most affordable marketing tool you can possibly have for your business. We receive around 85% of all new business directly through our website, and have clients all across the world that have found us online. The beauty of a website is you can start with a small website – a single page or a couple of pages for just a couple of hundred dollars, and in time build it up to suit your needs. With every website Devision design we professionally search engine optimise and submit it to the search engines using the latest techniques and SEO gear, so you’re not paying additional expenses later on to get on the search engines. In fact we are happy to coach you in SEO techniques so you can learn the secrets yourself and make sure you always stay ahead of your competitors!
Alternatively, for a few hundred dollars you can purchase a copy of Web CEO, the leading search engine optimisation software used by the professionals, and quickly learn to do it yourself.

Website Hosting - $7.95 a month

With your website you will also require a domain name and website hosting. Our partner company Webcrowd offer professional hosting plans for $7.95 a month, which are perfect for any small to medium professional business website, and you get the domain name of your choice (pending availability) for free!
The Webcrowd hosting includes unlimited email account, professional website statistics for your website, and you have full control via a Control Panel, allowing you to set up email accounts, add databases, etc as you need. And the best thing about Webcrowd is they are located in Australia so you get real local support!
